Dr. Harrisons packages and daily diet
| Additionally, parrots eat the seeds only but not the husks, which represent an often considerable weight and volume, e.g. in peanuts or sunflower seeds. High quality extruded food is swallowed entirely by the parrots. The birds are therefore satisfied with a smaller daily intake of food, e.g., African Grey Parrots with 25 g, Budgerigars with 4 g. As a result, you can feed one African Grey Parrot with 1 kg high quality extruded food for about 1 month. In the same period you would easily feed 3-5 kg of the conventional seed mixtures. When feeding seed mixtures you have to add minerals and vitamins. These relatively expensive products have therefore also to be included in the feeding costs. Considering all these facts this results in the below listed daily feeding costs per bird, based on the price for a 2,27 kg bag of Dr. Harrison food. Dr. Harrisons birdfood is often shortened with the term harrison food:
By ordering the larger sized bag of 11,34 kg the price can be decreased by 8% and by ordering the 22,58 kg bag by about 12%. The small bags with 450g are about 9% more expensive than the 2,27 kg bags. If your have any questions please don't hesitate to call od write an email to: Heike Mundt |
